"Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment."
Dr. Maria Montessori
School Life

This half-day program is tailored for fourth graders from area schools. Students experience what school was like for children in the 1892. Classes include lessons in proverbs, math, history and geography. There are also "special" activities such as recess, a cultural-awareness experience, a spelling bee, and visits from special guests.

Home Life

This half-day program is highly interactive and hands-on. Students will learn what home life was like before and after school. Using authentic tools, students participate in a variety of 'chores' of this era, as well as partake in games and family activities. Chores include such things as washing and ironing clothes, rug swatting, "gathering eggs", shelling and grinding corn, rope-making, and darning.

Costs

$3.00 per student for half-day program
